...are we now? Where have we been? And where are we going? A big question that will probably remain unanswered until we actually get there. But, for now, this is what we do know:

at a glance:
October 2009:
sorting a few last but very vital bits: Rose’s driving test for vehicles over 3.5 tonnes, visas for Libya and Egypt, driving carnet for Africa.
November 2009:
through France into Spain, and down the length of Portugal.
December 2009:
around Morocco, up the eastern coast of Spain, and into southern France where we plan to catch the Marseilles-Tunis ferry (or possibly keep going, and catch the ferry from Sicily instead).
January 2009:
from Tunisia, through Libya, into Egypt, across the northern route and the desert.
February - April 2010:
in Dahab, Egypt.
Then, if it’s possible to get any vaguer, we’ll follow our noses and head either down towards Cape Town, or up into the Middle East.
